US sets anti-dumping duties on China steel rod
WASHINGTON: The United States has set preliminary anti-dumping duties ranging up to 206 percent on imports of nearly $74 million of a steel product from China, the US Commerce Department said on Thursday.
“Dumping of imports of steel threaded rod in the US market by foreign exporters unfairly undercuts American manufacturers,” assistant Commerce secretary for import administration David Spooner said in a statement.
Vulcan Threaded Products of Pelham, Alabama filed a petition in March asking for the relief. Imports of the steel rod from China increased 67 percent from 2005 to 2007. The Commerce Department set preliminary duties of 77.85 percent for RMB Fasteners, IFI & Morgan and Jiaxing Brother Fastener Co, and 176.57 percent for Ningbo Yinzhou Foreign Trade Co, Ningbo Daxie Chuofeng Industrial Development Co and Zhejiang Guorui Industry Co.
Nine other exporters received a preliminary duty of 91.22 percent and an unspecified number of other companies will face a China-wide rate of 206 percent, the department said. The Commerce Department is scheduled to announce final anti-dumping duties in the case in December. reuters
